The "Tasty Toast" project commissioned by the Play Design Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, is a design that incorporates popular Taiwanese street desserts and common household appliances to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The design features popular foods from Taiwan and Hong Kong, like lemon ice tea and Hong Kong-style French toast, arranged in a circular shape reminiscent of traditional Taiwanese architecture. The traditional Chinese characters included in the design are meant to reflect the traditional tile-based game of Mahjong. The hotel, which caters to tourists interested in exploring local culture and cuisine, also has a branch in Hong Kong, and the design aims to represent the positive relationship between the two areas. The design is being used on pillows sold in the hotel's gift shops in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
